What an interesting lady.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christine_de_Pizan

"In The Treasure of the City of Ladies, she highlights the persuasive effect of women’s speech and actions in everyday life. In this particular text, Christine argues that women must recognize and promote their ability to make peace."

Hmm.

Having seen the film adaptation of Les Mis

I believe Russell Crowe's voice is a little warm for Javert, but the cracking sound as his body shattered on the Seine weirstones was spot on.

So...

...just as I'm reading an essay by Gershom Scholem on the Golem and the Spark of Life, Amy walks in from developing rules for her Cards Against Humanity game and informs me that "During the financial crisis the government declared ___________ too big to fail. The player automatically wins if they play the "Jews" card."

Synchronicity, thou art...curious today.

For fucks sake.

Okay, so I moan about the lack of dick I'm getting and then two come along at once. Ragueneau is amazingly strong, patient and batshit mental in all the right ways. He lives nearby, but alas, is reasonably sure he's monogamous and may not want to be with me in the long run. I would love to have a relationship with him, but there's that Sword of Monogamocles hanging over our heads.

Now add, hmm, let's call him Lignière, as I rapidly run out of Bergerac characters, who I just met at a LARP camp and is also very interested in me. And is actually polyamorous. But lives far away.

Nothing's ever fucking easy.

Well, except me.

Oh synchronicity...

So it turns out Ragueneau is a mad welshman.

Interesting.

Well, that's tiresome.

Why is it the LARPing games I enjoy and can get to regularly (in Newcastle) have refs/high level characters who suddenly disappear and cease responding when you actually need to talk to them (get entry to something, level up), and the ones I can't get to regularly (because they're in Sheffield, Darlington) have communicative, responsive and helpful refs?

If somebody dies because my character gets bewitched on Saturday for want of five minutes of "yes you can have your one menial extra point of holy power, Louise", I will not be held responsible for the consequences.

Also: Confusing new development. Christian remains a consummate emotional idiot, and Roxane adorable, but it seems curiously Roxane's friend is interested in me - let's call him Ragueneau as the closest approximation. He is fascinatingly intense and I am also interested (although the usual poly-mono clashes are applying. Fuck you society and your heteromononormative bullshit). This could all go horribly wrong (again), but frankly, I'd like to get laid again sometime before Christmas and his jawline suggests high testosterone with the associated perks. There's just a hint of Bruce Campbell about it.

Suddenly I'm 16 again...

Encore une fois, je vais perdre mon panache...

Okay.

Roxanne is still pretty and nice and lovably vulnerable.

I am as usual, uncertain whether I'm getting justifiably angry or unjustifiably angry.

Okay, so what do you do when you have a friend who has really bad social anxiety (so bad they can't leave the house unless they are going somewhere they feel safe with people they feel safe with), but appears to use it as an excuse to be somewhat rude and demanding - never says "please" "thank you" or "sorry"? I am afraid I got very angry with him after he forgot something that meant I had to drive a long way back somewhere to return it. He then proceeded to pay his part of the money for the drive, and flee to have a panic attack (apparently). I didn't really want to have precipitated this, but I am not sure if the fact he didn't explain himself or apologise was because he was paralysed with panic or because he's just not used to doing so...

ETA: Also I am Bergeracking for Roxanne and Christian again. Dopamine and serotonin keep gaying on their ungay.

la nieve quemará mi corazón

I have gained new insight into the phrase "if you love something let it go" with the implicit "don't expect it to come back to you". I feel like a female Bergerac. But Roxanne and Christian are so sweetly nervous around each other, that I can't begrudge them potential happiness and a lover who will not in Roxanne's case use and discard her, or in Christian's case commit teenage suicide leaving him emotionally crippled for half a decade. And stupid Christian's (with his stupid body like Narcissus in the Arcadian sunlight and his stupid unkempt soft brown curls and stupid soft brown eyes and his stupid, stupid adorable naiveté) pretty mouth seems to be bound by the twin evils of dyspraxia and fear of becoming his father from speaking what it desires from beautiful shyly laughing Roxanne until Cyrano here nudges him into it. Actually he's getting better. Perhaps I'm really Pygmalion. Or at least Professor Higgins. Is Apollo inclined to strike people down for hubris?

Un baiser, mais à tout prendre, qu'est-ce....C'est un secret qui prend la bouche pour oreille.
Ce baiser trompeuse.
